Biography:
Paul was called to the Bar in 1976 and has practiced law in Collingwood since that time. Prior to passing the Bar, Paul completed an elementary school teaching certificate from Stratford Teachers College and earned a B.A. at the University of Western. He eventually decided to go on and attend law school at the same institution where he graduated with an LL.B. in 1974. It was during his tenure at law school that Paul met his now long time colleague and partner of 30 years, Brian McLellan.
Paul has been active as a volunteer in the community as well as with charitable and non-profit organizations locally and nationally. Some of these have included Georgian Triangle Ducks Unlimited, Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, as well as various political and sports organizations.
Paul’s wife Beverley is a successful business person and together they have two children, Destiny and Drew. Destiny completed a B.A. at UWO in 2005 and an associate degree at Parsons (The New School for Design) in Manhattan, New York City in January, 2007. Drew is enrolled at the Richard Ivey School of Business at UWO, after having completed two years of honours economics at the same institution.
Paul has been a frequent member of the Canadian National Trapshooting Team and represented Canada at many World Cups, World Championships, Pan American Games as well as the ’96 Olympics in Atlanta. He continues to compete in American Style Trapshooting has been named to the All-American Team 8 times.
Paul is also a member in good standing with the Simcoe County Law Association, the Grey County Law Association, the Ontario Bar Association and the Canadian Bar Association. He has appeared in all levels of courts in Ontario, the Alberta Court of Appeal and has appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada. Paul’s interests lie in the areas of real estate and development law, estate law, and business and commercial law.
Because of his familiarity with firearms, and recreational and competitive shooting issues, Paul is frequently retained to assist firearm owners, clubs, and associations for advice and representation across the province.
